About Robert Violette
Prior to founding Violette Editions in 1997, from 1988 to 1995 Robert edited and produced publications at the Anthony d'Offay Gallery in London for many leading artists including Francesco Clemente, Gilbert & George, Sir Howard Hodgkin, Ellsworth Kelly, Anselm Kiefer, Richard Long and Gerhard Richter. In 1991, Robert produced and co-edited (with Sadie Coles) Jeff Koons's first publication, The Jeff Koons Handbook, and, in 1995, Bill Viola's collected writings, Reasons for Knocking at an Empty House, still in print today.
In 2001, Robert was selected as one of four Editorial Fellows to represent Great Britain at the Jerusalem International Book Fair. From time to time, Robert also conducts live workshops with groups of professionals or graduate students to conceive and produce new publications in various formats. Away from book publishing, in 2005 Robert Violette was one of four finalists for the prestigious Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award, and is a qualified alpine ski-racing coach
with the British Association of Snowsports Professionals.
